According to the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), on August 19, 2024, the Food Standards Australia New Zealand issued Notice 301-24, which approved Application A1247, allowing D-psicose as a novel food.

It is understood that the application intends to use Microbacterium phylloensis SYG27B-MF containing psicose-3-epimerase to enzymatically convert fructose into D-psicose to produce D-psicose.
